:I have received the opera glasses in black with the gold-colored trim and chain to hang around my neck. First of all they look cheap like a child’s toy. They don’t look like something a sophisticated opera aficionado would use. Not that I am pretentious about going to the opera with these – I just want the glasses to see the characters’ faces as my season subscription seats are in the 2nd balcony and my eyesight is not what it used to be. Well I won’t wear these around my neck until the lights go down – I don’t want to be embarrassed about them. If they hold up well and actually work then I will feel less self-conscious about using them.

Update December 14 2009: I have just been to a concert of Handel’s Messiah where my seat was way up in the rafters. I pulled out my opera glasses and I was able to focus in on the conductor the soprano the tenor etc. They worked very well and I think better of the glasses now. I know the people sitting around me wished they had opera glasses too. I do recommend these glasses.

I bought two pairs of these binoculars. I gave one to my girlfriend. We had an opportunity to use them at a play recently and they really came in handy. I do wish that they were a little bit stronger. But they are classy looking and my girlfriend loved hers. I would recommend to others.
